Even with its oddly paced story, problematic camera, and occasionally dull boss battle implementation, it’s a joyous, memorable game that any intrigued party should dive into. Solar Ash is a delightful experience boasting a continually engaging gameplay loop coupled with enticing sound design and narrative beats. Is Rei going to survive and make her way through the deadly encounters of the void? Is she going to learn the truth about the massive beasts that roam the world and discover the mysteries of Echo and Star Seed?.Encounter many mobs of grotesque creatures, grapple around the map and climb great heights, grind the rails, and explore the ashen clouds of many shattered worlds eaten by the void. The game takes place on Rei’s planet a surreal dreamscape world filled with long-abandoned ruins of long-forgotten civilizations from long ago but it is your home you must defend it at all costs.Solar Ash is a high-speed action-adventure game made by Heart Machine you are a Void Runner named Rei you must stop at nothing to save the planet from falling prey to the Ultravoid and its eternal hunger. Not horrible but not amazing. The Ultravoid’s ceaseless hunger knows no bounds and it has his eyes set on your planet. I appreciate they weren't trying to make the game super photorealistic like most mainstream games are for the past 20 years.

You can tell the devs were going for a very stylized look. Last thing I will say is I love the art style of the game. There really is not a lot to say so I keep debating with myself whether or not what score should I give this game. The game doesn't do anything that's horribly wrong it was a pretty smooth experience all the way through. Should one accept their fate, knowing that they and everything they know will be gone no matter what or or do they do everything in their power to change their fate? Well the story seems cool and deals with heavy subject matter, the game's overall story had no impact on me. The story explores the concept of life and death. Rei and her co-workers are well-trained agents known as void runners. In Solar Ash, you play as a character named Rie who's main goal is to save her planet from being sucked into a black hole known as the ultravoid.

Although the Story is minimal, I found the theme of the game very interesting. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.Īs a platformer, I got to say the devs did a good job with the movement and the weight of the character you're playing as.
